[nidokidos] Visiting the Flood Affected Areas of Pakistan

Visiting the Flood Affected Areas of Interior Sindh for Relief Work

27th September, 2011: Pakistan Sindh

The PTI women wing Karachi team, with Mr. Israr Abbasi, started the visit and relief activity from Hyderabad, which was the first stop, and then went on to Tando Bago, Talhar, Badin and in the end to Jhudo, which is in district Mirpur Khas. The journey was a difficult one and the devastation was heart breaking. A large number of people were living without shelter and all around, on the sides of the roads, in the fields, there was only water.

On the way, the team interacted with the flood victims and distributed, to each family, clothes, two six liter water canes, biscuits, two packets of dry milk, two or three packets of ORS and four packets of Grains. In total around 700 families received these items. Besides this, the team also provided free medical assistance and medicines to the impecunious people who were in desperate need.

Mrs. Erum Wahab Butt said to the flood victims, "You all should not lose hope in any way as we all are with you people and we will try to fulfill your needs". Also, while talking to the media, she said, "There is a lot more to be done and we will continue our efforts and relief activity". "People should come forward to contribute as much as they can since the deprived people of interior Sindh are counting on us for help and aid", she added.
