ASSALAAMU ALAIKUM  ( PEACE BE ON YOU ALL ),

Wish you all a very happy Eid ul Azdha 1430 hijri

May happiness and peace be with you. Ameen.

Now What is this Eid and how it is celebrated.....

Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice)

Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice is a religious festival celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam to sacrifice his son Prophet Ismael Alaihis Salam as an act of Love & obedience to Allaah.  This Eid falls on 10th of Zul Hijjah the 12th month of Islam's lunar calendar.

Since Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam's love for Allah surpased everything, so he was put on trial.  He was commanded by Allah to sacrifice anything which was in his heart. So the Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam sacrificed his camels, which was not accepted, then he thought that his love for his Son was most, so when he was sacrificing his son, Allah commanded an Angel to replace his son with a lamb.  Without taking his son's life,  Allah revealed to him that his "sacrifice" had already been fulfilled. He had shown that his love for his Lord superceded all others, that he would lay down his own life or the lives of  those dear to him in order to submit to Allah.

During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, Muslims commemorate and remember Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis salam's trials, by themselves slaughtering an animal such as a sheep, camel, cows or goat.  Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice their best domestic
animals as a symbol of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam's sacrifice.

The meat from the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha is mostly given away to others. One-third is eaten by immediate family and relatives, one-third is given away to friends, and one-third is donated to the poor. The act symbolizes our willingness to give up things that are of benefit to us or close to our hearts, in order to follow Allah's commands. It also symbolizes our
willingness to give up some of our own bounties, in order to strengthen ties of friendship and help those who are in need. We recognize that all blessings come from Allah, and we should open our hearts and share with others.

On the first morning of Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world attend morning (Fajr) prayers at their local Masjids Then join the larger gathering to pray Eid Prayers.  Later, members of the family will visit a local farm or otherwise will make arrangements for the slaughter of an animal.  Distributing meat among people is considered an essential part of the festival during this period.

This festival is a very happy time for Muslims for special prayers, visits to family and friends, gifts to children and, of  course by food. For many families, it may be one of the few times during the year that they have the opportunity to enjoy  meat, and only the best dishes are served.

All the best.

Warm wishes from Hyderabad, INDIA.
