First London Olympics 1908 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~         Some wonderful old pictures here ...   I can't decide whether my favourite is the stadium announcer, the bicycle polo or the women's high jump.                 Opening ceremony – The Announcer     Opening Ceremony - Team GB   100 yards Hurdles US Competitor   The Cycle Track   Gymnastics   Women's High Jump   Women's Synchronised Exercises   Men's Hockey   Men's Bicycle Polo   Women's Archery   Women's Archery   Men's Discus   GB Men's Cycle Team   Men's Tug-O-War   Men's Tug-O-War   The stands were near empty, and there was none of the pomp & hype that we've seen since the Second World War The reason??
