Publisher's description of 123 Free Solitaire 2008
123 Free Solitaire 2008 card games collection includes 12 solitaire card games: diplomat, eighteens, flower garden, freeCell, grandfather's clock, klondike, pyramid, royal rendezvous, spider solitaire, spider solitaire one suit, spider solitaire two suits, and yukon. 123 Free Solitaire 2008 features a winning layout, fast game play, rich sounds, extensive options, and quality help. Each solitaire has more than 9 trillion possible games to play.
With more game options than a Vegas card room and plenty of help files through which to shuffle, this free program is a must-have for solitaire card sharks. Installation is fast, safe, and nag-screen free. A main menu lets you easily scroll through the 12 game options. Each game is rated in terms of difficulty and skill level, and even outlines how many decks are used and your chances of actually winning the game. Time played and game score is kept in the upper right-hand corner of the main game screen. One of the best features (aside from its great list of games, of course) of 123 Free Solitaire 2006 is its detailed help files. Clearly written, each file outlines how to play the game and even gives definitions of words that might be unfamiliar. We especially like the occasional "strategy" hint link, which gives you a secret clue to playing a game better. Cards scrape and slap on the desktop "table," yet if you're sneaking a game at work, the sound can be muted. You also can customize the card design and tabletop to your liking--choices for cards include cartoon snowmen to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, while bold background patterns or colors can be swapped whenever you choose. While game statistics and redo/undo are features only available in the developer's paid version, they're not critical items. Overall, 123 Free Solitaire 2006 should be a welcome diversion for card sharks and newbies alike--now if we could only quit playing and get back to work.

SolSuite Solitaire 2009 is a collection of 500 solitaire card games, featuring animated and custom cards, dozens of backgrounds, automatic play, high scores, and sounds. All of your favorite games are included, such as Spider, Klondike, FreeCell, Pyramid, Golf, Canfield, Forty Thieves, Flower Garden, and the original Solitaire. Its features include a create-a-new-card-set wizard, a multiplayer mode, a rules wizard and a tutor.
SolSuite 2009 v9.4 adds the new Large Print Modern card set. This new card set features easy-to-read extra-large suit symbols, larger numerals and letters on regular size playing cards. In addition, by using it with any solitaire game, the cards overlapping in the rows and columns will be automatically increased in comparison to that of the standard card sets. Added 5 new backgrounds: Book of Love, Field of Daisies, Ladybug on a Blade of Grass, Two Girls in a Wheat Field, Wood Table.

This top-rated trial for one of the most popular solitaire programs around continues to improve. The 2009 version of SolSuite Solitaire adds another two original games, bringing the grand total to 500...for now. Expect to see even more new games in later releases. The excellent trial offers a free month of play (with three shuffles per game), and big solitaire fans will likely register before the 30 days are up.
The helpful interface lets you browse games grouped by type, time, difficulty, and skill level, or you can have the program choose a variation at random. SolSuite provides a glance at each game's rules, a difficulty rating, and a layout. Players can choose between different card sets and backgrounds, and they can even create their own solitaire games using the Rules Wizard.
Strategies, tips, and hints help beginners, and adepts will enjoy the robust statistics including graphs, 3D charts, tables, logs, and online high scores. You can always undo your moves and return to a good position. The suite supports multiple players, which is perfect for families and tournaments. A longtime editor and user favorite on CNET Download.com, SolSuite looks likely to further satisfy our solitaire cravings in 2009.
