Sri Lankan cricket team in shooting Attack believed to have happened as team drove to stadium in Lahore on the bus Gunmen in east Pakistan opened fire on a vehicle carrying members of Sri Lanka's national cricket team, wounding at least eight members and killing five police officers, according to officials. Eight members of the Sri Lankan team were injured near Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan Cricket Board security official Nadeem Iqbal said. He said the team members were hurt near the stadium where they were due to arrive to play. Sri Lankan team manager Brendon Kruppu confirmed the incident and said the team's batsman, Kumar Sangakkara, was among the injured. The attack in Lahore came at a time of unrest in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka, both of whom are trying to defeat insurgencies. It was unclear who was behind the assault, however, but it appeared to have been carefully coordinated. City police chief Haji Habibur Rehman said five policemen died in the shooting.
